F1 22 Cars Individual Traits Explained
Redbull
Top speed 220 mph
The Redbull is very stable and tends to deal with bumps very well, suits an aggressive style plus it has some amazing top end speed for a car with as much downforce as its got. It's the fastest in a straightline and as an unexpected plus the car is good at looking after tyres and very rarely has issues even on overheated tyres. My only gripe is that sometimes it is abit too stable on my preferred setup and thus does have abit of a front end push factor, can be cured though with a little less rear wing.
Ferrari
Top speed 218 mph
The Ferrari is abit like it has been in the past, abit twerky on transition when you get the car dialed in. Makes up for it with good traction and acceleration in slow corners and is a car that works well across a wide variety of circuits, it more than makes up for its very slight lack of top end compared to the redbull with aero. So running lower wings brings it more level to redbull in terms of straightline speed, and atleast in my case was easier to setup than the redbull.
Mercedes
Top speed 216 mph
The mercedes this time around is the games current go kart, it drives amazingly and could very well be on the pace of the top two at very tight twisty tracks with a lack of straights. Tracks such as monaco, and hungary. The merc has excellent traction, but is hard to find a good diff setup for due to it's drag affecting it out of corners, atleast that's what it feels like. once it's pushed to its limit though it's very chuckable and rewards an aggressive style, brilliant on brakes and on tyres and works very well on low wing compared to every other car on the grid apart from Alfa Romeo. Its biggest downside is it's the slowest car on the straights by 3mph (compared to the top 5 fastest cars) at monza. On another note, If you do overheat tyres you can't use the cars main area of finding time (through the corners) so getting those tyres in their window is most crucial in this car as it seems to be very sensitive to how it reacts to overheating tyres.
Alpine
Top speed 219 mph
The Alpine is the best of the rest and is a very able platform, it has a good enough chassis to deal with bumps and mid corner direction change. Coupled with it's surprisingly good aero levels it's decent on tyres. Though if you get the setup wrong or wings slightly too low it could struggle quite badly on them due to being stable and potentially scrubbing tyres. It seems to struggle a little more than you'd expect with lower wings. You can solve this by dropping tyre pressures on the front and running a slightly stiffer rear rollbar. as for straightline speed, usually in a car like this it would be somewhere in the middle of the field, however on this game it has the same top end as the top fastet top end cars, though it does take fractionally longer to get to max velocity. Eitherway it is a good all rounder.
Alfa Romeo
Top speed 217 mph
The alfa is probably the biggest surprise this time around, as it's very capable in slow stuff due to its very short wheelbase. And in comparison to most cars feels very direct with inputs at all speeds. Probably the closest car bar the mercedes to a go kart. It is very on the nose and thus means it can drive on lower winged setups with a slight understeer focus with ease. It doesn't seem to be as reliant on wing levels compared to the others, it's inbetween the lower wing setups used for mercedes and the higher wing used for the midfield teams. The car somehow works best on these inbetween wing levels if you lower the pressures a click on all tyres compared to all the other cars. It seems very comfortable into slow corners especially on heavy braking and good traction on the way out, feels very reactive into highspeed corners. the only bit it seems to struggle with is medium speed entry, as it needs a little of a more aggressive turn in for those types of corners atleast from my perspective but as it is on the nose it seems to want to slide, only way i have found to counter that is to run two clicks higher on the off throttle.
Tauri Rosso/Alpha Tauri
Top speed 219 mph
Tauri rosso seems to be very stable, doesn't particularly like lower winged setups similar to the haas in that area, it needs a compromise between the two which usually means a two clicks higher front wing than the setups used for the majority of the midfield, in some ways it feels similar as the alpine but slower. its brakes are decent but not the best seems better on race pace than when it's pushed to it's limit in qualifying, as it seems to complain and understeer just a tad at times in quali trim.
Haas
Top speed 219 mph
Not much to say about the haas, has decent brakes for what it is though not as great as others. It's the 3rd most stable car on the grid and is also the second fastest in a straightline and therefore usually leads to higher wings needed usually leaning more towards 4 front and two rear compared to 2 front and one rear i generally used in the tauri rosso. Again due to this cars nature it will cook tyres and chew through them life wise if it doesn't have the right amount of rotation balance set by the combination of rollbar and aero level.
Mclaren
Top speed 216 mph
The mclaren is a very good car, roughly a tenth slower on all out pace than the haas and tauri rosso. But it makes up for it by being very easy to drive thus very easy to setup. Has great brakes a great chassis, brilliant aero and mid corner direction change. It's biggest advantage over the two cars directly infront of it is that due to it being so easy to setup and use it's great on tyre life, and also works well on lower aero setups.
Aston Martin
Top speed 217 mph
Although this car is abit of a pig in real life it's pretty much the opposite in game, it has a decent enough aero to keep it level or ahead of the williams. It's more conventional to setup than the williams, and thus requires less tweaks or adjustment. Seems more compliant on normal to lower wings than the williams, chassis is a smidge worse than the williams, but the aston seems to make up for this by benefiting more from lower ride heights than its direct rival.
Williams
Top speed 217 mph
Well not much to say really, despite it usually being ragged ahead of the aston martins in real life and indicating that it has potential to atleast out handle the aston in qualifying trim. The car seems to be very heavy in game, to solve this using higher levels of wing seems to work but is therefore a heavy compromise race wise as it will be too draggy. It has a tendency to snap on power no matter the throttle setting, oddly though in certain scenarios it feels more reactive that it's direct competitor. Once again it's a grab by scruff of the neck fling and hope you don't snap and die kind of car. It doesn't feel slow, but somehow it is. brakes aren't great. It's only good quality is that it is capable of holding onto some of the midfield in terms of straightline speed.

Trial Procedure
If you are interested in taking part please take the realistic performance "insert car" around AUSTRIA in time trial, screenshot your fastest clean time at the end of the session screen and send it to me.
It is extremely important to push to your absolute limit, do not use the equal performance option to gain an unauthorised advantage. When you use equal performance the green symbol appears next to your time which is clear indication that you've either not read this message carefully, or that you think you can cheat the games system or this league. if you do use equal without permission you'll just be wasting time. I don't appreciate people wasting my time, Ironically it also means that if you waste mine you're also wasting yours. I
so overall follow this trial procedure properly, i wish you luck.
Target Time 1:05.5
Please copy/use the world record holders setup. Or if it is a glitched time ignore that and copy a setup From Otis Lawrence, he's usually the record holder.
