Restrictions
It's standard procedure for us to use certain restrictions to balance people out if needed, or if the game's performance gap from slowest to fastest car isn't wide enough.

Car Characteristics Guide
Redbull
Top speed 227 mph
As always the redbull has everything you could want, great chassis, great grip, great tyre wear, top speed, perfect aero balance, great brakes and ontop of all of that it's very stable. It should deal with whatever you throw at it without any complaints. Lower wing or high wing is easily capable in this car. As well as smooth or aggressive driving styles.
Ferrari
Top speed 226 mph
Ferrari although feels great, doesn't feel as pointy in the highspeed as the redbull, the chassis itself feels fine on direction change. But the car itself definitely suffers a tad aerodynamically in comparison as well as slightly more at low speed. However it still feels great over a race stint and is great on tyres if driven correctly. May require less rear wing than a redbull setup or maybe a slight bit more on the nose with the rollbars being set for a slightly more aggressive or slightly less aggressive turn in. All depends on how exaggerated the aero balance of your setup is.
Mclaren
Top speed 225 mph
The Mclaren is probably the most baffling, on F122 it was one of the slowest in a straightline. It was very stable and liked aggression and needed aggression in order to be fast (as well as it being a pure corner momentum car) on F1 23 it's the opposite, still stable and likes aggression. But it's no longer a slouch on the straights, main difference is that now it has the straightline speed it deserved, it's capable of being on par with the Mercedes in terms of pace.
Mercedes
Top speed (gear limited to 218mph)
The merc once again is a little draggy (not as much as it was in 22 (top speed in F1 23 seems gear limited as its maxed out very early on) the mercedes is basically a go kart once again, short wheelbase quick and nimble at slow speed and feels amazing at high speed, great on the brakes if a smidge unstable. Great on kerbs/transition on kerbs. It lacks a smidge in medium speed corners compared to ferrari & redbull. I also found that using a click or two less rear wing than those cars helped gain time back on straights where the top end doesn't max out. As well as it helped the car feel abit more pointy in the mid speed corners.
Aston Martin
Top speed (gear limited 218mph)
At some circuits it's about as capable as the mercedes, tends to need a bit more of an aggressive/oversteery suspension setup. Does feel very stable, as in its prone to understeer unless you add some front wing and tweak the suspension as suggested. But overall very enjoyable to drive and very easy to drive, chassis is quite stiff but somehow doesn't slow it's transition on kerbs. Aero wise it doesn't have the same ability as the mercedes, it's anywhere between a tenth to 3 tenths slower per track compared to the mercedes, it's track dependant.
Alpine
Top speed 227 mph
The alpine has surprisingly brilliant top end and feels great on the brakes stability wise. Suspension wise feels great over kerbs, only thing i didn't like was the chassis, it feels abit sluggish especially at mid speed corners. A click or two less rear wing and a slightly more oversteery rear rollbar sorted that out, feels very neutral over a stint.
Haas
Top speed 225 mph
Compared to 2022 the haas has come a long way, before it was a heavy car that needed to have wing piled on for it to do anything... Or it needed to be borderline unstable aerodynamically in order to get time out of it. However on F1 23 it's the opposite, It's brakes are a smidge worse than the alpine, but that's mainly at the very final stage of braking, needs that smidge harder of a force to stop it. Overall it's very stable, tends to do better over a lap and a stint if it has a click or two more wing on the front and back. Great over kerbs slightly hesitant at mid ish to low speeds due to it's chassis, not as quick as the fastest midfield cars in a straightline.
Alfa Romeo
Top speed 225 mph
The alfa romeo feels very similar to the mclaren, previously on 22 it had the best chassis out of the midfield cars. Which allowed the car to be run on a lower wing than most other cars without any downsides to doing so. Despite that though, it was still one of the slowest overall in max top end speed. However on F1 23 it's the opposite, it feels abit stiff and slightly sluggish in the medium speed corners, but it does seem to rotate a little better than the mclaren in the slow speed stuff. it's also marginally better on kerbs as well as tyres over a race stint.
Tauri Rosso
Top speed 224 mph
On F1 22 the car was very stable, and had the second/third best top end with quite a gap to the cars directly around it. However it's taken a massive step backwards in terms of performance on F1 23, which is reflective of the real life teams performance in 2022 and in 2023. Overall performance wise it's about one to three tenths faster than the williams, fluctuates per track. As for how it feels, the car feels sluggish in slow speed, it's alright in medium speed corners but only really comes alive at high speed. You can get it to more or less do what you want in medium speed and high speed by adding two clicks more front wing than usual, or by going aggressive on rollbars. On the plus side it does feel stable on the brakes and surprisingly so on kerbs.
Williams
Top speed (gear limited 218mph)
The williams once again is the slowest car it feels okay chassis wise, loses out downforce wise compared to it's direct competitor (tauri rosso/alpha tauri) brakes are probably it's biggest let down, needs a smidge more finesse on lower brake bias. Feels okay with more wing, or a more stable setup suspension wise. Not brilliant on kerbs, but can be just as good as the midfield cars if placed at the perfect angles.
